On Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that punter Pressley Harvin has been ruled OUT for Sunday’s game in Houston against the Texans.

Harvin had been on the injury report all week while he was dealing with a hamstring injury, stemming from his Week 3 efforts in Las Vegas against the Raiders.

The absence of Harvin opens the door for the Australian Brad Wing to take the field for the Steelers in Week 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Wing hasn’t punted in the National Football League since 2017, when he did it for the New York Giants.

A former Steeler, Wing punted for Pittsburgh in his rookie season in 2014, where he averaged 43.7 yards per punt.

After that, the Steelers traded him to the Giants after he lost out to Jordan Berry in a training camp battle. Wing played the next (and final) three years of his NFL career in New York, where he averaged 44.9 yards per punt over his Giants tenure.

The 32 year old Melbourne native has been active in the football world recently, even if he hasn’t been around the NFL in over half a decade.

Wing played for the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas in the spring, where he averaged 47.9 yards per punt under head coach Hines Ward.

He also played briefly for the Memphis Express of the now defunct Alliance of American Football back in 2019, where he had a 44.1 yards per punt average, the exact same number he had in his final year as a Giant.

Now, Wing will kick off his second stint in the NFL on Sunday.
