About The WRiter

I began my journey as a sports writer back when I was in high school. Honestly, I joined the paper on a whim; in my high school, the paper was an actual class that you could take, and since I needed one more elective, I decided to try it out and see what happened. Safe to say, that was one of the best decisions of my life. I wrote for The Foreword for two and a half years, including two years as an editor. It was there, in Room 212, where I learned I had a true passion for sports writing, and that this was something I wanted to keep doing.

I probably spent more time than I should have in class writing stories of all kinds, both topical and historical. It became the thing I loved doing the most. But, as my high schools days came to a close, so did my outlet for all those projects I loved working on. There was a lot that I didn’t know on graduation day, but I knew one thing for certain: this was what I wanted to keep doing.

That’s what promoted the launch of this website. It became the space to write about whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I kept it going that summer and through my first year of college, and it turned into a portfolio of all my work. Since then, a lot has changed. I took a job with The Pitt News, where I was their full-time pro sports columnist for the first year, before I was transitioned to a columnist and beat writer for Pitt football. Most recently, I was named an editor. Life certainly comes at you fast; a few months before, I wasn’t sure I had a future there.

But, through all the change, ups and downs, and hectic nature of this career, this place has been the one constant. Fifth Avenue Sports has been the place I spend the most time, and the home for so many things I am so proud of. I’m not an insider. I don’t have a lot of sources. I’m just a guy with a website who likes talking about sports.

The journey continues. Welcome to Fifth Avenue Sports.
