One: “On any given Sunday.”

That’s the famous phrase we hear about the NFL every week. On any given Sunday, any team can win, no matter their record, their roster, or their circumstances.

Well, this feels like one of the few seasons where that’s actually true. I mean, just take a look at Buffalo.

Last week, the Bills took down the Kansas City Chiefs, putting a huge roadblock in that team’s path back to a playoff spot. They forced Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes into an uncomfortable interception late in the game, and the Bills’ defense limited Mahomes to under 50% in completions for the first time in his NFL career.

The next week, Buffalo lays a complete egg in Miami against the 2-7, GM-less Dolphins. At no point did the Bills look fully in this one, and Miami punched far above their weight in earning the upset, 30-13 win.

Buffalo will bounce back…I think. But man, that’s a bit of a rude awakening for a Bills team was riding high after the Chiefs win last week.

Two: Aaron Rodgers looked old on Sunday night. Like, really old.

The 41-year-old quarterback looked every bit of it as his Steelers took on the Chargers out west in Los Angeles, with Rodgers going 16-of-31 for 161 yards, one touchdown, and two picks (although one of those was tipped by a receiver). He finished with a 50.6 passer rating, a bottom-ten mark in the illustrious, 257-regular season game career of Rodgers.

It was one of the worst games of his career. He couldn’t move around, he missed open throws, and he overthrew his targets on multiple occasions.

Look, Rodgers has been a surprise this season. I don’t think anyone expected him to play this well and this efficient over the course of the season. But, Sunday night was a disaster.

For the Steelers, you can allow him one bad game. With his résumé and body of work so far, he’s earned one night off. But now, he’s used it. And Rodgers needs to show that age hasn’t gotten to him as quickly as it looked like this weekend.

Three: On Monday, the Bengals officially opened the 21-day window for injured star Joe Burrow to come back from injury. The team is targeting an early December return for him, but Burrow has reportedly told FOX’s Jay Glazer that he plans to be back by Thanksgiving.

Joe Flacco, who the Bengals traded for to fill in for Burrow after backup Jake Browning failed to get the job done, has done his part to keep the offense afloat. Unfortunately, their defense has still surrendered far too much for the team to stay competitive.

Now at 3-6, this season is probably (although not officially) over for Cincinnati. However, if Burrow comes back late in the season, the Bengals could play serious spoiler for some contending teams down the stretch.

Cincinnati has a visit to Pittsburgh next week, followed by a hosting of New England. But their three games after that include two games against Baltimore and a trip up to Buffalo.

Those are both teams who will be vying for wins late in the season as they try and break away from the pack of mediocrity that is much of the AFC this season. Looking at these games from today, November 10th, it’s easy to pick the Ravens and Bills in those games. I mean, just imagine what Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen can do to that defense.

But if Burrow is back, he might just find a way to snag a few wins that don’t necessarily mean a lot for the Bengals, but are desperately needed by the Ravens and Bills.
