Colin Holderman hasn’t had it easy in…well, a while. After pitching to an All Star level for the first half of 2024, he completely fell off a cliff in the second half, and he has yet to find his way back.

Holderman landed on the Injured List back in mid-May, missing about a month before he started on a rehab assignment within the team’s farm system.

However, given his recent major league track record and less than stellar rehab work, the Pirates optioned the righty to Triple-A Indianapolis for him to try and improve.

He was recalled back on August 15th, in a bullpen swap that included Ryan Borucki being designated for assignment. Groans could be heard from across the county.

An already deeply unpopular reliever (who was booed back on Opening Day) did not help himself when he struggled in his first two games back.

On the 17th, he allowed a hit and issued a walk, en route to surrendering a run in Chicago against the Cubs.

Two days later, facing Toronto, Holderman started his outing with two straight hits, the second marking a home run that put the Blue Jays ahead 7-3. Even if Holderman secured five outs following, it was not a productive performance.
