It’s a crazy time in Pittsburgh sports.

Mike Tomlin, who coached the Steelers for 19 years, stepped down on Monday after his team’s 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans. There is obviously so much nuance to a move like this, but one thing is for certain: it’s the start of a new era for the Steelers.

The organization’s first known head coach interview request is for Nate Scheelhaase, the current pass game coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams. Several other names, including ones like Minnesota defensive coordinator (and one-time Steelers employee) Brian Flores, are also reportedly on their list of candidates.

So, with a job that comes around once every few decades now open, I felt like the least I could do is explore what I think some of the attractive and unattractive factors are about this position.
