The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of work to do.

After a third straight season of finishing 10-7 and losing in the Wild Card round, it’s evident that there’s a lot that needs to change if the Steelers have serious hopes of contending, now or in the future.

Some of that change is being forced on them. The decision that head coach Mike Tomlin made to step down from his post after 19 years on the job will result in the Steelers needing a nearly entirely new coaching staff underneath new head coach Mike McCarthy.

Several pending free agents will also have an impact on the roster with their decisions. While the Steelers are reportedly willing to have 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers come back for one more year, it looks more likely that Rodgers will either retire, or seek a 22nd season somewhere else, ending his experiment after one year.

But amidst the laundry list of roster decisions the Steelers must make, one includes a once-promising wide receiver who has struggled to make a name for himself in this league.

The 2024 season was a disaster for the then-rookie third round pick. Early injuries suffered before the season kept him sidelined for the opening weeks, and once he finally got healthy, he found it hard to board that “moving train” Tomlin often talked about.
