General manager Ben Cherington has spent years trying to make the offense of the Pittsburgh Pirates more competitive.
It took him a painful amount of years to acquire legitimate MLB-caliber hitters. This past offseason, the longtime executive finally was able to land a few, with Brandon Lowe and Ryan O’Hearn bringing some much needed power to the North Shore.
But another addition that has chipped in with some offense, and provided the Pirates with a much needed glove is Nick Yorke.
Pittsburgh originally acquired Yorke in a trade deadline deal with the Boston Red Sox back in 2024. In a milder version of their pitching-for-batting philosophy, the Pirates had sent right-hander Quinn Priester Boston’s way in exchange for the utility man.
