What do you mean we play again on Thursday?!
After an ugly loss in every sense of the word on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers need to have a short memory as they gear up for a short week. The Steelers will be featured on Thursday Night Football against the Tennessee Titans in just a few days.
At the time of this publishing, we don’t yet have a full idea of what the quarterback situation for Pittsburgh is. Kenny Pickett was injured right before the half and did not return to the game. Mitch Trubisky is likely the starter if Kenny can’t go, but I can hear the faint calls for Mason Rudolph in the distance.
However that goes down, the quarterback position for the Steelers is far from the only thing that Pittsburgh has to worry about. On the other end of the field, there’s a new sheriff in Tennessee who lit up the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Will Levis, making his first start in the National Football League, threw 4 touchdowns against Atlanta and passed 238 yards. He completed 19/29 passes and led the Titans to a 28-23 win.
Levis threw 3 touchdowns to DeAndre Hopkins, who was recently just linked to the Steelers in trade rumors (so much for that), and a fourth was tossed to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.
Hopkins caught 4 passes for 128 yards on the back of Levis’ performance, including a 47 yard pass that was probably a little pass interference on Hopkins.
But that was second to Levis’ 61-yard bullet to Hopkins to make it a two score game.
Levis’ performance was praised by many across the football world, and within Pittsburgh football circles, Levis was instantly compared to Kenny Pickett, who has never had more than 2 touchdowns in any game of his career. That single game came against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3 this year.
Pickett has only bested Levis’ 238 passing yards 5 times in his 19 game NFL career.
If Pickett can return as the starter, it should certainly be an interesting battle on the field. But no matte who is at the helm for Pittsburgh, Levis could give the Pittsburgh defense fits.
The 33rd overall pick in this past year’s draft is in all likelihood going to make his second NFL start in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
