Now that the NFL Draft is over, fanbases across the league have a better idea of what their team is going to look like when the 2024 season opens.
For the Steelers, they massively bulked up their offensive line with the picks of Troy Fautanu (1st round, 20th overall), Zach Frazier (2nd round, 51st overall), and Mason McCormick (4th round, 119th overall). Fautanu and Frazier could be Day 1 starters for the Steelers in the fall if things shake out a certain way.
But aside from o-line help, which the Steelers definitely invested in, the other glaring hole on the offense was at wide receiver. After the trade of Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, the Steelers’ WR room was critically thin.
George Pickens was now the headliner, but there was hodgepodge of players behind him with no one really standing out.
Pittsburgh made a move to add someone to that room, selecting wideout Roman Wilson with the 84th pick in the draft. Wilson, a national champion with the Michigan Wolverines, was the lone pick at the position for the Steelers this season.
The WR room now looks like this (not in depth chart order):
George Pickens
Roman Wilson
Calvin Austin
Van Jefferson
Quez Watkins
Marquez Callaway
So…is it enough? Is this a wide receiver room that the Steelers can feel comfortable going into next season? Is this a group that can set up Russell Wilson (or Justin Fields, if you wanna get crazy) for success?
