As Major League Baseball’s season enters the third full month, the Pirates find themselves in the thick of a very crowded NL wild card race.

While the team’s recent (and quick) stint in last place of the NL Central, their presence as a real wild card possibility as been overshadowed. The “last place” conversation has been a big talking point on Pirates Twitter in recent days, but the team is still right there in the wild card race.

However, if the Pirates are going to keep pace, they will need some of their players currently on the roster to step it up another notch. Luckily, the early days of Jun has seen several members of the Pittsburgh’s roster recently turn a new leaf.

While yesterday saw him go from being mercilessly booed to being hailed as a hero and having his name chanted, it hasn’t been his only good game recently; it just yielded the best results.

Tellez has 7 hits in 14 at bats in the month of June for a slash line of .500/.533/.857. This mini hot streak also includes 7 RBI, which is just under half of his season total.
