Left fielder Bryan Reynolds just capped off another terrific June.
In what is typically his best month of the major league season, the 29-year old slashed .330/.388/.604 in June of 2024, notching 6 home runs and 16 RBI as the second man up in the order.
He also had the longest hitting streak in the major leagues this season, recording at least one hit in 25 straight games before an 0-for-4 finally spelled the end of his run in yesterday’s 4-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.
I suppose it is fitting that Reynolds’ hit streak would come to an end just as the month of June is. A few weeks ago, I documented the trend of Reynolds typically putting together his best work of the season when the calendar says June, and it’s unlikely that he finds a way to top what he did this month in any other stretch for the rest of the season.
However, I also briefly mentioned that the Pirates needed to get as much out of him in June as they could, because it was going to get a lot harder come July. Today, let me explain more what I meant.
