For the first time in truly a generation, there are actual Penguins prospect to talk about.

Prospects. Plural!

And while the Penguins, under the guidance of general manager Kyle Dubas, are starting the lengthy and likely painful transition from one era to another, the Penguins are quickly rising in prospect pool rankings, with those numbers only to keep rising over the next few years.

The Penguins have 30 draft picks over the next three years, including three first-round picks, six second-round picks and eight third-round picks. Even with Dubas eventually pawning some of those picks off in other deals, the Penguins will be adding a blue chip prospect in the draft this June and several more down the road.

Those question marks, plus the established likes of guys like Rutger McGroarty, Owen Pickering, Ville Koivunen, Vasili Ponomarev, and others occupy the bulk of the attention when it comes to the organization’s minor league operations, there’s a little known prospect starting to make a name for himself.
