I’m not going to lie to you my friends, that was some pretty bad baseball I watched this week.

All the excitement and anticipation for a new baseball season took a brutal beating over the first four games of the year, with the Pirates dropping three of four games to one of the very few teams with a lower payroll than Pittsburgh themselves.

The Marlins were able to outlast with the Pirates’ starting pitching, taking full advantage of Pittsburgh’s weak bullpen and walking them off all three times in their wins.

Look, baseball is a long season. If there’s one sport to not over-react to, it’s the one that insists on playing 162 games a year. But it really feels like we’re watching a continuation of the 2024 Pirates, which was a disaster to watch down the stretch last year.

With that being said, I’m wanted to take a look at this series as a whole, and who I saw as winners and losers. So let’s get into it.
