“Game Of His Life” tells the story of Pittsburgh athletes who may not have had the most illustrious, Hall of Fame level careers, but had one absolutely amazing game. In today’s edition, Kerrith Whyte Jr.

Kerrith Whyte Jr’s pro football career featured a lot of stops, but not a lot of games. Originally a seventh round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2019, Whyte was selected 222nd overall, just three picks after offensive lineman Derwin Gray was taken by the Steelers.

But it was Pittsburgh that would give him that NFL chance that he craved. Whyte started the 2019 season on Chicago’s practice squad, but as injuries started to pile up on offense for the Steelers, the team went on a mini pillage of opposing practice squads.

In mid-November, in addition to signing wide receiver Deon Cain off of Indianapolis’s practice squad, the Steelers also signed Whyte off of Chicago’s practice squad and brought them in as reinforcements.
