The Pittsburgh Steelers are a struggling team.
At 6-5, the Steelers are coming off a 31-28 loss to the Bears in Chicago, and with the way their schedule looks down the stretch, head coach Mike Tomlin’s 18-year non-losing seasons streak looks like it is in trouble.
There’s a lot wrong with the Steelers this season, but one of the many issues plaguing them is their slow starts to games.
The Steelers are averaging 5.18 points in the first quarter, and have not been able to get over the hump of seven points in the first. Pittsburgh has not scored more than seven points in the first quarter all season, but this stunning problem spans far past just this season.
Per Warren Sharp, Pittsburgh’s 61 straight regular season games with seven or fewer points in the first quarter is the longest such streak in NFL history.
