It’s getting harder and harder to find anything that is going well with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

They are 12-23 on the year. They are coming off a disastrous homestand that saw them lose two of three to their NL Central rivals in Chicago and a clean sweep against them by the San Diego Padres.

They are one of the worst batting teams in the league. Their starting rotation, aside from Paul Skenes, is struggling. Only Skenes and Andrew Heaney have an ERA under 3.20 right now, and any good pitching performance is wasted by the Pirates’ inability to score.

In the bullpen, things are also shaky. But if there is one consistent bright spot on this team, it’s Dennis Santana.
