With the season officially over and the offseason underway for the Pittsburgh Penguins, one of their biggest summer questions is already gaining traction.

Evgeni Malkin, the 39-year-old, lifetime Penguin is due to be a free agent on July 1st. His contract and looming free agency was a topic several times during this season.

His representatives and general manager Kyle Dubas have talked several times, including at the Olympic break back in February, but a deal has yet to be reached. Throughout all of this, Malkin has maintained a desire to stay.

He sung that same tune in his end-of-year availability, but his quotes left a very real possibility that he’s played his last game in a Penguins uniform.
